fashion: keep the sun out with style!

universal "hot": where classic and fresh meet.
no one does this better than RETROSUPERFUTURE, with their sleek sunglass designs. this pair (the Andrea) in particular caught my eye, but all the new summer releases are tight, instant classics. i've been looking for good summer eye wear and struggling to break away from my classic ray-bans, which although never fail me and will be icon for all eternity, are not unique enough anymore. at the same time, there has to be a happy medium, and i am certain that SUPER is bringing you just that. dope!

my kind of night: the intersection between fly clothes, hot people and philly music.

UBIQ last wednesday night was just that. BLACK SCALE had a poppin in-store lanch party for the line, and got Philly's own Freeway and Gilbere Forte to come out and preform. everyone came out rocking only the freshest in fashion, and i got to pretend like i work as an event photographer!

outside UBIQ: flash mob! (sikee)

street: the street on the web

this is just a taste of the greatness that can be found on http://stockholmstreetstyle.feber.se/ via http://streetstyl.es/.

i don't know if i'm late of whatever, regardless though, streetstyl is a tight site. it's a collection of sites and blogs that are the true pulse of now fashion. this is my eventual goal, to photograph all the stylish peoples of Philly, but there's so many important things for me to tell yall about so we'll get there one day. till then, just enjoy streetstyl.es!

music: Corrine Baily Rae on Erykah Badu

for me, the lovely erykah badu has held the number
one spot in my mind forever. i constantly struggle
to decide which of her albums is my favorite,
because in truth, i love them all so much (although
i'm almost certain i love mama's gun my fav now).
we will just have to see what New Amerykah: Return
of The Ankh comes out IN FOUR DAYS.

please peoples, i know you're just as excited as i am,
but try and have a little patients, go out and buy the
album, or at least wait till i've bought it, and come
hang out with me while i blast it for the next few
weeks!

peace & good music.

music: Corrine Baily Rae in Philly 5/1

Can we just talk about how much i wish i could have hair like Corrine Baily Rae?
And those polka dot stockings with the nautical stripes is on point.
She's gorgeous and supremely talented. And best of all, she's coming to the TLA on May 1st.

life: personal style icon - Asha

She's hot, loud, fun and smart, and she translates all this perfectly into her style.
and, of course, she's one of my best friend!

sherry (my current roommate), me and asha @ our senior prom

sadly she goes to school in Chicago so i can't see her, except for those brief times she's visiting on break, but we trade midwest-east coast fashion stories (mostly she just says everything is so much more expensive) and other tales and misadventures whenever we can. most the time, i just miss her so much though! i'm lucky today because i got to see her for lunch and we caught up a bit. it was soo nice!

check out her blog!
love this chicaaa!

fashion: "Yves Saint Laurent Gave Women Power"

know your fashion history peoples!
Yves Saint Laurent was a visionary, giving women of the sixties
powerful ready-to-wear as well as some of the most stunning
couture. all around fashion genius! it's crazy that this is only
his first retrospective show since his death in 2008.

peace&couture.

street: "flashinglights" shoot

sunny days, flyy friends, and city alleys:

i'm in a photo lighting class... and i suck. well, actually, i'm not always bad but using flash is hard, especially when shooting outside. but this was fun because Mady (check out his lookbook!) and Joe were so high energy!

there were a bunch of fun out-takes too:

jessica, being a pockesizeddd cutie

some very questionable "sugar cookies" we found in this back alley...

a good looking group: paris, gui, & yohanna

doin their go-go thing (almost hahah)

i swore this little kid had slapped martha's butt, but really he just put a sticker on her bag...

PEACE, sunshine out.

wish list: hello kitty x ambush

this is the intersection of two of my favorite things:
flyyy jewelry and childhood icons!

on a newer note in fashion:

AllNeon

the Ambush x RSVP Glow-in-the-Dark chain

so fresh! getummmm!

music: "Me and The Devil" Gil Scott-Heron

this is super tight, hope yall enjoy!
holla at Joe (the blog-less c***-lover) for showing me this!

fashion: first lady of fashion gettin' freshhh

ok, ok, yeah i know i'm late, but cut me a break, i would have been blogging about this when it happened had i had a blog. let's be serious though people! that guy made me a hoagie once! HOLLA! that's like one degree of separation between me and Michelle! yeahhhya!

now to actually be serious, we were super lucky to have the lovely first lady, Michelle Obama, come to the new Fresh Grocer at our very own Progress Plaza on Temple's campus, back in February. Michelle's campaign called "Let's Move", focused on fighting childhood obesity brought her to the new super market because it's one that is being used as a model for the super markets that will be built with the $400 million dollar federal financing initiate to bring healthy foods into urban and rural areas deprived of fresh foods. if you're a temple student, you're sure to know about all the amazing fresh selections at Fresh Grocer. me and my roomie eat kiwis (side note: that word looks so weird pluralize... just saying) all the time! best of all, the federal initiative was modeled off an initiative that came out of PA: the Pennsylvania Fresh Food Financing Initiative, which financed the Progress Plaza Fresh Grocer. WE TREND SETTERS YALL!

it was a super exciting day for the North Philly community, 1. because now there's tasty healthy food, and 2. because Michelle is a style icon and she's doing big thangs for the kids of our nation!

getum, Michelle, in your cute blazer and belt combo! we love you!
