random: APOLOGIES!

i'm so sorry i have been such a bum lately, taking so much time off from blogging...
just let me explain:

1) schooling
its really not a good excuse. overused and not really even all that true considering i could blog while sitting in about half of classes (well actually only one, but thats if you're expecting me to be a perfect student... hahh) i have been really busy with a few projects, hopefully something that i'll be happy enough with to be able to share with you all in a few days... eeeek gotta go get busy on that. smh.

2) everything else
i.e. being way too social, being hyper active, etc, etc.
mostly, i think i've just been lazy. the life of a college student will really take it out of you without you even noticing until you wake up in the middle of the day from a nap that you don't remember taking. this summer, however, (now only 6 days away!!!) will still be hyper active, but in a way that personally, i see as actually adding to the betterment of my life. so get ready, hang on to your snapbacks, cause here we goooo!

video: Beyonce's "Why Don't You Love Me?"

beyonce is one of my idols. i love everything she does, but this is above and beyond spectacular. the song is great, but really i love this for her rings and shoes and her perfect pin-up style! (i'm kidding... sort of hehe)

fashion: Lee Won-jun turns MP3 into jewelry

i know someone wants to get me this right? this earrings/bracelet, headphones/MP3-player combo seen on Yanko is the by far most innovative cross over i've seen between the technology world and the fashion world in a long time, possibly even ever. the earrings are elegant and edgy and the bracelet is simple yet beautiful. designed by Lee Won-jun.

art: Nissan's Zero Emissions stop-motion

this is so wild and has a great message, so enjoy!

icon: Vashtie Kola

if there was every one person who i'd say in a instant i'd switch lives with it would undoubtedly be Vashtie. she's a director, artist, fashion designer, brand owner, party planner, and all around cool person. her style is tight and everything she does redefines cool.

here just a brief interview. i'm pretty sure you'll fall in love with her just as quickly as i did.

ps. i love TONE too, talented photographer and videographer. another inspiration to me.

fashion: FLOSS clothing and Paris Artelli

my super talented friend Paris does just about everything, from music to art and fashion. definitely someone to watch!

fashion: Vouge Pelle gets fashion bloggers

i thought this was absolutely the best shoot concept i've seen in a while! fashionable fashion bloggers! there really isn't any comparison with myself, since i can't afford to run around in couture, but maybe in my dreams...

music: Aloe Blacc - "I Need A Dollar" video

HELLO AGAIN!
remember me?

sorry i haven't been on top of my blog game lately for a bunch
of reasons, mostly i'd like to believe that it's because i've been
on my photo/school grind. going along with that theme, one i
think a bunch of you can relate to, i am posting this video of
Aloe Blacc's, off of the Stones Throw label, "I Need A Dollar."
you probably recognize the song off of the opening to the HBO
show, How To Make It in America, which had a great first
season that ended yesterday. be sure to catch that too!

peace for the moment.

fashion: keep the sun out with style!

universal "hot": where classic and fresh meet.
no one does this better than RETROSUPERFUTURE, with their sleek sunglass designs. this pair (the Andrea) in particular caught my eye, but all the new summer releases are tight, instant classics. i've been looking for good summer eye wear and struggling to break away from my classic ray-bans, which although never fail me and will be icon for all eternity, are not unique enough anymore. at the same time, there has to be a happy medium, and i am certain that SUPER is bringing you just that. dope!

event: Freeway & Gilbere Forte @ UBIQ 3/24

my kind of night: the intersection between fly clothes, hot people and philly music.

UBIQ last wednesday night was just that. BLACK SCALE had a poppin in-store lanch party for the line, and got Philly's own Freeway and Gilbere Forte to come out and preform. everyone came out rocking only the freshest in fashion, and i got to pretend like i work as an event photographer!

outside UBIQ: flash mob! (sikee)

street: the street on the web

this is just a taste of the greatness that can be found on http://stockholmstreetstyle.feber.se/ via http://streetstyl.es/.

i don't know if i'm late of whatever, regardless though, streetstyl is a tight site. it's a collection of sites and blogs that are the true pulse of now fashion. this is my eventual goal, to photograph all the stylish peoples of Philly, but there's so many important things for me to tell yall about so we'll get there one day. till then, just enjoy streetstyl.es!

music: Corrine Baily Rae on Erykah Badu

for me, the lovely erykah badu has held the number
one spot in my mind forever. i constantly struggle
to decide which of her albums is my favorite,
because in truth, i love them all so much (although
i'm almost certain i love mama's gun my fav now).
we will just have to see what New Amerykah: Return
of The Ankh comes out IN FOUR DAYS.

please peoples, i know you're just as excited as i am,
but try and have a little patients, go out and buy the
album, or at least wait till i've bought it, and come
hang out with me while i blast it for the next few
weeks!

peace & good music.

music: Corrine Baily Rae in Philly 5/1

Can we just talk about how much i wish i could have hair like Corrine Baily Rae?
And those polka dot stockings with the nautical stripes is on point.
She's gorgeous and supremely talented. And best of all, she's coming to the TLA on May 1st.

life: personal style icon - Asha

She's hot, loud, fun and smart, and she translates all this perfectly into her style.
and, of course, she's one of my best friend!

sherry (my current roommate), me and asha @ our senior prom

sadly she goes to school in Chicago so i can't see her, except for those brief times she's visiting on break, but we trade midwest-east coast fashion stories (mostly she just says everything is so much more expensive) and other tales and misadventures whenever we can. most the time, i just miss her so much though! i'm lucky today because i got to see her for lunch and we caught up a bit. it was soo nice!

check out her blog!
love this chicaaa!
